The WCHA announced today that Gophers junior defenseman Milica McMillen will receive a one-game suspension for a game misconduct infraction for contact to the head during Minnesota’s 4-2 victory Saturday over Bemidji State.
McMillen, a starter on the fourth ranked defense in the nation, will miss the first game of the Gophers WCHA first round series against conference-worst Minnesota State-Mankato.
“I actually didn’t see [the hit],” head coach Brad Frost said after Saturday’s game. “There was some glass in the way but I trust the referees if [they saw a game misconduct].”
Frost will be made available to the media tomorrow at the team’s weekly press conference.
The Gophers have already beaten Minnesota State-Mankato four times this year by a combined score of 23-5. The postseason series is a best-of-three weekend battle, with game three coming Sunday afternoon if necessary.
