Two former Gophers golfers qualified for the U.S. Open with their performances Monday.

Donald Constable and Clayton Rask will participate in the tournament, which runs June 12–15 in Pinehurst, N.C.

Constable shot 3-under-par with rounds of 72 and 69 at the Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Md.

Like Constable, Rask shot 69 and 72, finishing 3-under-par at the Emerald Valley Golf Course in Creswell, Ore. Rask tied for second at his local qualifying event in Prior Lake, Minn., on May 12 to advance to Oregon.  

Constable qualified for Maryland after finishing at 2-under-par at a local qualifier in Stillwater, Minn.

He transferred from the University of Texas to Minnesota and holds a 73.07 stroke average during his time in Minnesota, the fourth-lowest stroke average in program history. 

Constable tweeted Monday that he was “excited to be heading back to Pinehurst” for his first U.S. Open. His history at the course includes a victory at the 2010 North and South match-play amateur championship.  

The U.S. Open will be the first major championship for both golfers.
