MINNEAPOLIS (AP) âÄî A Wisconsin man who was jailed after a Minnesota state trooper rammed his van put pencil to paper to calculate his damages. Sam Salter spent two days in jail after a traffic stop that the State Patrol said this week was mishandled. Salter suggested a $9,500 settlement, saying he was “not interested in making money off this event.” Salter was arrested on New Year’s Eve along Interstate 94. A state trooper rammed his car after Salter didn’t immediately pull over. Salter had his three children in the van and said he was looking for a safe place to stop. Salter, of Hudson, says he included $2,200 in body work to his van, plus the traffic ticket and impound fee he paid. Then he added the money he would have been paid for the 37 hours he spent in jail, plus some for the time his wife spent trying to get him released. Finally, Salter added several thousand dollars for aggravation and expected attorney fees. ___ Information from: Star Tribune, http://www.startribune.com
