Gophers’ streak survives unlikely scare

Minnesota defeated last-place Bemidji State 3-2 in overtime at Ridder Arena on Saturday.

The Gophers women’s hockey team needed its first overtime of the season Saturday to extend its record winning streak to 40 games.

Senior Mira Jalosuo scored the game winner as the Gophers defeated Bemidji State, the last-place team in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, 3-2 in overtime at Ridder Arena.

Minnesota (32-0-0) had won every game this season by two more goals, including Friday night’s 8-0 victory against BSU.

The Gophers trailed by one goal twice Saturday, but each time, the team responded with a goal less than three minutes later.
