Randy Handel will be the University of Minnesota's next associate director for development, athletics director Norwood Teague announced Wednesday.
Handel had been serving as the interim for the same position since October 2012.
Handel will primarily manage the day-to-day development operations in the Golden Gopher Fund. That includes fundraising activity with capital campaigns, the Golden Gopher Fund annual fund, endowments, planned giving and the department's premium services and events, according to a release.
Executive associate athletics director David Benedict will oversee Handel and his staff.
Handel came to the University in June 2010 as a major gift development officer. He led capital campaigns for the new Siebert Field and for the new basketball development center.
Prior to coming to Minnesota, Handel served for 10 years as vice president and chief operating officer at McGann Construction, Inc., in Madison, Wis.
