Former Penn State coach Joe Paterno has a treatable form of lung cancer, ESPN reported.
Paterno, 84, is undergoing treatment and “his doctors are optimistic he will make a full recovery.”
The coach’s son, Scott Paterno, first announced the news in a statment provided to the Associated Press on Friday.
The legendary coach was fired last week in the wake of child sex-abuse allegations against his former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky.
