Elmo was ready to bask in the sun, because today it would be partly sunny with highs in the upper 50s. But he missed the dark-haired Rita from his Italian class. She never seemed willing to share a cup of coffee or lime soda after class. He really, really missed her. “Oh well,” he said. “I’ll enjoy today since tomorrow there’s a 30 percent chance of showers and only a high in the 50s.” As he tilted his head upward, a blast of “Santeria” assured him that she was near. But it was not to be; it was only Elma and her newest dork-friend, Angela. He couldn’t stand those two ever since they dissed his first-ever open mike night. He’d show them when he cut his first album.
