Al Franken announced Wednesday that Drew Littman, a longtime Washington adviser, would be his chief of staff, according to a press release.

Littman most recently was head of his own consulting agency and also an adjunct professor at American University. His career in Washington started 20 years ago as a policy aide for then-Rep. Barbara Boxer. Of course, this is all pending a soon-to-be-heard appeal by the Minnesota Supreme Court. This is the second appointment made by Franken (he pegged Morris alumna Alana Petersen as state director last week), who has been determined to begin his transition to U.S. Senator even as Norm Coleman’s appeal lingers.
