The No. 13 Minnesota volleyball team put on a solid showing in their home opener, defeating previously undefeated Auburn by scores of 25-11, 25-17 and 25-6.
Juniors Lauren Gibbemeyer and Brook Dieter led the way for the Gophers. Gibbemeyer had 11 kills with an outstanding .667 hitting percentage. Dieter was also a scoring dynamo with 12 kills. Senior Taylor Carico had 25 assists to go along with two kills.
Minnesota has two games tomorrow as they finish up the Diet Coke Classic. Their first game will be at 10:30 AM against George Washington and the second game will against No. 12 Iowa State at 8:00 PM. Both games with be at the Sports Pavilion.
