Women’s hockey sweeps North Dakota

The No. 2 Minnesota women’s hockey team swept North Dakota over the weekend, taking the victory Sunday 5-0.

The Gophers took advantage of UND’s miscues, scoring four power-play goals in six opportunities in the game.

The Gophers were outshot 24-23 Sunday, but were able to make their shots count.

Freshman goalie Noora Räty had 18 saves in the win, while sophomore Alyssa Grogran came in the third period for six saves.

Seven Gophers scored a point Sunday, with senior Brittany Francis lighting the lamp twice.

The Gophers improved their record to 15-3-2 overall and 11-2-1 in the WCHA with the sweep in the last weekend of play before break. The Gophers will back in action on Jan. 8 against Ohio State.
