The Student Neighborhood Liaisons will be busy this Earth Day weekend.
Several events are planned to clean up the Mississippi River area as well as the Marcy-Holmes and South East Como neighborhoods. Everyone is welcome to join.
Saturday 21, 9:30 – 12:00 p.m. Mississippi River cleanup
The Minneapolis Park Board will be hosting an Earth Day Mississippi River cleanup.
The Marcy Holmes Neighborhood Association and the liaisons will be meeting at Father Hennepin Bluffs Park to walk along the river and pick up trash.
There will be coffee and refreshments.
Sunday 22, 10:00-1:00 p.m. Neighborhood cleanup
The liaisons will be meeting in Van Cleave Park to clean up the Marcy-Holmes and South East Como neighborhoods.
There will be pizza, Frisbee and badminton.
Gift cards and possibly other prizes will be given away at the event. People can win prizes for finding the most unique piece of trash or being the one who picks up the most trash.
Monday 23, 3:00-7:00 p.m. TechDump
The liaisons will be working with the Jobs Foundation to host a TechDump at Van Cleave Park.
People are invited to bring in their old electronics to recycle.
The liaisons ask that nobody bring any florescent bulbs. A full list of what can and cannot be recycled can be found here.
If anyone wants to recycle a monitor with a cathode ray tube there is a suggested donation of $10.
