Amid growing concerns about COVID-19, the University of Minnesota has suspended in-person instruction across all system campuses through at least April 1. The University is moving to online or alternative instruction during this time.
Despite halting in-person instruction, residence halls, dining services and other student services are staying open to accommodate students who may need to stay on campus.
Boynton Health’s East Bank and St. Paul clinics will also stay open while classes take place in person.
University is monitoring the situation and may extend the online-only instruction period, according to a campuswide email sent to the campus community Wednesday.
Several University campuses, including Twin Cities, are currently in the middle of spring break, which has been extended to Wednesday, March 18, according to the emailed statement. The Morris and Crookston campuses will continue in-person instruction through the end of the week.
A number of other schools in the Big 10 have also transitioned to online-only instruction in order to prevent the spread of the virus.
This is a breaking news story and more information will be added as it becomes available.
