Edgar Coleman, a local transient on the University’s campus, was found unconscious near the east entrance of Willey Hall on the second floor at approximately 10:45 a.m. Thursday.
Coleman was taken to the emergency room at Hennepin County Medical Center.
Hospital officials said his medical condition was undetermined as of 5 p.m.
Witnesses said they did not see Coleman fall, but saw that the right side of his face was covered in blood as he laid unconscious on the floor.
Katie Hoffman, a Scandinavian studies senior, said she heard Coleman fall inside the building.
“A lot of people went over to see if they could help, but he wasn’t responding,” Hoffman said.
University police officer David St. Cyr said Coleman regained consciousness shortly after police and an ambulance arrived.
