Two forwards are set to return this weekend for Minnesota’s men’s hockey team.
Junior Jon Waibel and sophomore Jerrid Reinholz will both play this weekend against Michigan Tech, coach Don Lucia said.
Waibel broke his hand Nov. 1 after punching the Plexiglas in celebration of his hat trick against Alabama-Hunstville. The Baudette, Minn., native was practicing in a cast last week and will likely wear a protective piece on his hand.
He has recorded three goals and one assist in six games.
Reinholz will finally see ice time after his return to the team was pushed back one week. Reinholz is recovering from a broken jaw suffered Nov. 2.
The Ramsey, Minn., native has tallied three assists in five games.
Both players have looked strong in practice this week, Lucia said.
As for the remaining two injured forwards, Barry Tallackson (shoulder) is expected back in mid-December and captain Grant Potulny (leg) is expected back in mid-January.
Statistically speaking
innesota forward Troy Riddle leads the WCHA with 12 goals. Defensemen Paul Martin and Keith Ballard, along with Colorado College blueliner Tom Preissing, share the league lead for points by defensemen with 15 each.
