A sexual assault was reported on campus Friday night, according to a University of Minnesota Police Department timely warning.
The incident took place at approximately 9:30 p.m. around the corner of Southeast Oak Street and Delaware Street Southeast, across the street from Territorial Hall.
The female student was walking when she was approached by a male suspect, who began hugging and kissing her while forcing her hands near his genitals.
The suspect is between 18-20 years old with an approximately 5-foot-6-inch, skinny frame.
UMPD Chief Matt Clark said this type of action on campus is rare and there have been no reports of similar incidences in the past.
This is the second timely warning sent by the UMPD in the past five days. On Sunday, three men stole a student’s wallet at the intersection of Oak Street Southeast and East River Parkway near the Ronald McDonald House.
