Two Gophers women's hockey players earned a WCHA conference weekly award Wednesday after the Gophers swept Wisconsin last weekend 2-0 and 5-1.
The conference named senior goaltender Noora Räty its Defensive Player of the Week after she allowed one goal against the Badgers. She also tied the NCAA Division I record for career wins by a goaltender with 100. She made 47 saves on the weekend. Her Friday night shutout was her 36th, just four away from another NCAA record for career shutouts. This is Räty's third award this season and 12th overall.
Freshman forward Hannah Brandt earned the Rookie of the Week title from her four points against the Badgers. Brandt had two goals and two assists, two of which ended up winning the game. Brandt has won this award six times this season.
The Gophers return to the ice Friday and Saturday at Ridder Arena against Minnesota-Duluth.
