SafeRoadMaps, a website created by University of Minnesota researchers, gives drivers detailed inforamtion about U.S. roads and spots where accidents have occurred, the Injury Board Blog Network reports.
When the site user enters a streeet address, SafeRoadMaps uses data from the Fatality Analysis Reporting System to show crash statistics, including the age of the driver, whether alcohol or speeding were involved and whether seatbelts were worn.
The service also allows users to search for safe routes and see safety statistics for their community, their state and the U.S.
