Junior forwards Sam Warning and Kyle Rau from the Gophers men's hockey team received spots in the inaugural Big Ten Three Stars announced Tuesday.
Warning earned the Second Star after he won the MVP award at the Ice Breaker Tournament this past weekend, helping the Gophers win the championship with a 6-0 win over Mercyhurst and 3-2 win over New Hampshire. He made three points in the form of one goal and two assists in the Mercyhurst game as well as added the game-tying goal in the New Hampshire game.
Rau earned the Third Star after collecting four points on the weekend with one goal and three assists, including the game-winning goal against Mercyhurst. He was also named to the all-tournament team.
Michigan’s Andrew Copp received the First Star.
Minnesota will face Bemidji State this weekend in a nonconference away series.
