For one first-year University student, the Minnesota Idol competition had a bittersweet ending.

Viewers did not choose Nicole Allen to be the Minnesota Idol winner Thursday.

Allen, along with four other past and present Minnesota Idol competitors, will tour Minnesota this summer, she said, but exact details were unknown.

Allen and the other finalists might have a spot on the compact disc the winner will produce, said Allen, a vocal performance major.

The winner was Mark Williams, a voice teacher from Coon Rapids, Minn.

“He is a really nice guy and I’ m glad he got it,” Allen said. “I just hope this isn’t the end.”

Allen is considering entering the American Idol competition.
