The Olympic torch takes some of its final routes through London today on approach to Stratford and Friday evening's opening ceremonies. The flame will be relayed through more than 50 runners today. 8,000 people have carried the torch since its arrival in the United Kingdom.
American students and British spectators alike lined the streets outside King's Cross St. Pancras station to catch glimpses of the torchbearer. He was heralded by dozens of buses and police before stopping by the train hub and sprinting down the road.
Only premium luxury tickets are still publicly available for Friday's opening ceremonies. Many London residents are expected to watch the event in pubs and viewing spaces at Victoria Park and Hyde Park.
