The University’s Legislative Network encourages all students to get on the phone with their legislators and participate in the first “call-in day” on campus.
Mike Dean, grass-roots coordinator for the Legislative Network, said students need to remind legislators the University is important to the state.
“The goal is to flood the legislators with phone calls from the University,” Dean said. “We want phone calls so legislators will hear personal statements.”
He said the “call-in day” was organized to coincide with Gov. Tim Pawlenty’s State of the State Address and to push for full funding of the University’s capital bonding request.
Those who want to participate can visit the network’s Web site, www.supportheu.umn.edu, to learn who their legislators are and how to contact them.
The Legislative Network is a grass-roots campaign organized through the University Alumni Association.
