Bob Miller, executive director of the city’s Neighborhood Revitalization Program, will officially announce his candicy for Mayor of Minneapolis Thursday at the Rainbow Resturant downtown, according to an e-mail sent earlier today.
The e-mail says Miller believes the neighborhoods and residents of Minneapolis are being ignored at the city government level and that the city’s finances need to be reexamined and more carefully managed.
Miller has been director of the NRP since 1992 and has been an outspoken critic of the city’s new direction with the program, which eliminates the current NRP body and replaces it with a department that answers to the city coordinator.
According to MinnPost, R.T. Rybak has a planning process in place to run for mayor in ’09 or governor in ’10. He is undecided on which path to take.
