Immediately following the alcohol-related death of 20-year-old University of Minnesota student Dylan Fulton in September, the University’s Alpha Gamma Rho chapter was suspended, according to a statement by Alpha Gamma Rho’s international headquarters.
All members and chapter operations have been suspended, and Alpha Gamma Rho is currently investigating the Minnesota chapter.
An autopsy reported released Tuesday stated Fulton died of complications caused by overconsumption of alcohol. In response to Fulton’s death in September, the University launched a safety review of all Greek chapters on campus.
Dylan Fulton’s family also released a statement Friday following the release of the autopsy, according to the Pioneer Press.
“We, the family of Dylan Fulton, are experiencing extreme sadness. No one can ever be prepared for the loss of a child. You never think this could ever happen to a kid like Dylan, but it can and does,” the statement, published in the Pioneer Press, reads.
“Dylan had an infectious smile and personality who loved to make people laugh and had countless best friends. He had high standards for himself in everything he did, whether in school, work or play. He also had high expectations for his family and friends and encouraged all of them to be their best.”
