Nearly one month following Norwood Teague's resignation, top assistant Mike Ellis is taking a leave of absence.
Ellis has been the subject of five anonymous reports sent to the University since Aug. 7, the day of Teague's resignation. Ellis was asked by the University to take voluntary time off, and he agreed, while independent investigators look into the complaints.
Ellis was hired by the University in August 2012 and one of his chief responsibilities was overseeing the men's basketball program. Teague and Ellis worked together previously at Virginia Commonwealth University before Teague was hired as athletics director at the University of Minnesota.
The University said in a statement Ellis was cooperating fully with the investigation. Ellis was also the subject of a complaint made in January 2013, but after an investigation he received no discipline.
