Police arrested five males late Tuesday after they allegedly robbed a University of Minnesota student and witnesses called in the robbersâÄô license plate number, Minneapolis police 2nd Precinct Lt. Greg Reinhardt said. This robbery is the seventh in the 2nd Precinct since Friday, a string of incidents targeting young women âÄî several of them University students âÄî between 8 p.m. and 3 a.m. A robber aggressively wrestled a purse from environmental science and policy management senior Kelsey JaegerâÄôs hands at the intersection of 15th Avenue and Eighth Street southeast, according to a police report. But before he climbed back into a waiting car and sped away, witnesses caught a glimpse of the vehicleâÄôs license plate and called the police, Reinhardt said. Police on patrol spotted the car, pulled it over and arrested the five passengers, all who live in Minneapolis, according to the report. Reinhardt said this robbery is similar to several of the others committed over the last few days and the suspects may be responsible for the other incidents. The Minneapolis Police Department Robbery Unit is conducting further investigations into the weekendâÄôs incidents.
