Minnesota’s men’s golf team finished in fifth place out of 18 teams, and Gophers junior Josh Persons finished tied for second at the Windon Classic in Chicago on Tuesday.
The team fired a third-round 282 – which tied for the lowest third round in the tournament – on Tuesday to finish with a 21-over 873, eight strokes behind first-place Northwestern.
Persons carded a final-round 68 to finish with a 1-over 214. Sophomore Bronson La’Cassie, who led after the first round, tied for 14th after a round of 74.
Women close strong too
Minnesota’s women’s golf team had an impressive third round as well, shooting a 311 Tuesday after rounds of 321 and 329 Monday to take ninth place out of 12 teams at the Shootout at the Legends in Indianapolis.
Samantha Braschler was the Gophers’ top finisher with a tied-for-35th 240.
