Former Gophers quarterback Mitch Leidner signed with the Minnesota Vikings, the team announced Sunday.
Leidner will join fellow Gophers alumni Isaac Fruechte and Marcus Sherels on the current Vikings roster.
The Vikings now have five quarterbacks on the roster, with four healthy. The roster, currently at 92 players, will be cut down to 53 by the Aug. 31 deadline.
Leidner had a 29-18 record in his collegiate career with the Gophers from 2013 to 2016. He rushed for 1,295 yards and 33 touchdowns, and passed for 7,287 yards and 36 touchdowns. He capped off his Gophers career with an upset win over Washington State in the Holiday Bowl on Dec. 27.
The Vikings play their final preseason games on Aug. 27 and Aug. 31. The team opens the regular season on Sept. 11 against the New Orleans Saints.
