Buckling under the weight of more than a foot of snow in Minneapolis on Sunday night, the University of Minnesota cancelled all classes beginning before noon today, the first closure affecting classes this year.
As of 11 p.m. Sunday, all classes scheduled after noon were expected to begin as normal.
The University will announce further closures if continued snowfall outpaces snow removal efforts on campus Monday.
University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview is set to remain open as scheduled.
A mid-December deluge, the last closure, postponed hockey games but didnâÄôt affect classes.
