Minnesota’s men’s gymnastics team lost to a team made up of Gophers alumni Sunday by a score of 212.225-188.425 at the Sports Pavilion.

The eighth-ranked Gophers begin their regular season Jan. 14 at the Windy City Invite.

Men’s swimming wins

Minnesota’s men’s swimming and diving team defeated Georgia Tech on Saturday in Atlanta by a score of 171-120.

The ninth-ranked Gophers won 12 of the 16 events to improve to 5-0 on the season.

Minnesota was led by senior Adam Mitchell, who won three events. Mitchell took titles in the 200-yard butterfly, the 200 individual medley and the 200 backstroke.

In nine races, the Gophers posted at least the top three times. Minnesota hosts the Minnesota Invitational next weekend at the University Aquatic Center.

Women lose

Minnesota’s women’s swimming and diving team lost 165-135 to Notre Dame on Friday in South Bend, Ind.

Freshman Yuen Kobayashi led the Gophers by winning two individual events.

Kobayashi set a career best in winning the 500 freestyle in a time of 4 minutes, 52.52 seconds. She also won the 100 free in 9:52.35.

Men’s tennis done at main draw

The three Minnesota men’s tennis players remaining alive at the Big Ten Championships in East Lansing, Mich., were eliminated from the main draw Sunday.

Raoul Schwark, D.J. Geatz and Andres Osorio each won a pair of matches to advance to the third round of competition Saturday.

On Sunday, Geatz won one match before being eliminated in the quarterfinals by Ohio State’s Bryan Koniecko. Both Schward and Osorio were eliminated in the round of 16.

Nic Edlefsen advanced to the consolation bracket semifinals Sunday with a pair of wins. Both Sion Wilkins and Mikey Kantar were eliminated from the consolation bracket Sunday.
