Nancy Barcelo, vice president for equity and diversity at the University of Minnesota, has been selected as the next president of Northern New Mexico College in Espanola, N.M. The collegeâÄôs Board of Regents finalized the selection Friday after five months of searching for a new president, NNMC spokesman Mitch Stanfield said. He said she had a âÄúfavorable impact on everyone connected with the college âÄî students, facutly and staff.âÄù Her appointment will begin by July 1, pending employment negotiations. NNMC offers two-year and four-year degrees and serves about 2,500 students. Barcelo has been vice president for equity and diversity since 2006. She came to the University in 1996 to fill the position of associate vice president for multicultural and academic affairs.
