For Minneapolis residents without a car, it will soon become easier to rent one for short-term use.
City Council voted last week to expand car sharing with Hourcar and Zipcar programs, according to a news release, adding them to its two-year program.
The City says car sharing reduces the need for people to own cars and offers a convenient option for renting one.
The University of Minnesota is already partnerted with Zipcar, with rentals available at five locations around campus. Rates are typically $66 per day or $8 per hour, after purchasing a $35 student membership.
