2906 Hennepin Avenue Mpls. (612) 825-6006
Built in the 1930s, the Uptown still boasts the biggest movie screen in the Twin Cities, as well as the only balcony seating available. And this one-screen theater is the place to go for new independent and foreign cinema, as it has been for decades. For those of you for whom analyzing symbolism and reading subtitles aren’t up your alley, check out Saturday’s midnight movies, which range from campy cult-classic horror to ’80s flicks you haven’t seen since you (or your sister) wore Punky Brewster high tops.
