Junior pitcher Briana Hassett decided it had been long enough since Minnesota earned Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honors.
Hassett’s performance in Georgia over the weekend was good enough to bring home the award for the first time since May of 2004, when Piper Marten got the nod.
In three complete game performances at the Eagle Classic, Hassett pitched two shutouts and allowed just one earned run, while giving up just eight hits and striking out 31.
The Eagan native is sporting a 1.66 ERA this season and her 7-2 record has her just four wins away from tying her win total from last season (11-4).
She’ll have a chance to add on to her winning record this weekend as Minnesota heads to Tennessee for the Tennessee-Martin Tournament.
