Hang on to that spare change for a slice.
Effective Friday, Mesa Pizza in Dinkytown raised its prices. A slice of the coveted pizza rose from $3 to $3.25 at midnight on Friday. The hike in price was fueled by various factors, manager Gallo Suave said.
The rising cost of cheese, chicken and flour was among the list posted on a wrinkly notice at the counter. Other motives were wage increases for employees and managers and the ability for the restaurant to maintain benefit plans for certain employees.
Suave admitted that adjustment may take some getting used to.
âÄúWe had to get a ton of quarters from the bank,âÄù Suave said, âÄúbut so far, so good. ItâÄôs mostly about the people adjusting.âÄù
Some customers arenâÄôt too concerned about the rise in price.
âÄúI donâÄôt really care,âÄù Sarah Hucovski said between bites, âÄúItâÄôs just a quarter.âÄù
