This win is the first NCAA second-round tournament win in the history of Minnesota soccer. The team will take on No. 1 overall seed Notre Dame next weekend in the NCAA Sweet Sixteen. Halftime: Minnesota is in control of a 2-0 lead over the South Dakota State Jackrabbits, and the team has had more than a couple opportunities to improve that lead. Minnesota leads 10-1 in shots, and late in the first half a cross directly in front of the South Dakota State goal almost led to a Jackrabbits own goal. Gophers score13:27: Nicole Lograsso dove to stop Minnesota’s second goal of the game, but Lindsey Schwartz’ shot was able to cross the goal line – barely – to secure Minnesota’s lead over South Dakota State. Gophers score1:11: Molly Rouse wasted no time tallying the Gophers’ first goal. Rouse caught a long pass from teammate Lindsey Schwartz and was able to loft the ball into the upper corner of the Jackrabbits’ goal.
