A Nov. 8 Star Tribune article said a Gophers stadium alone would cost between $200 to $250 million; combined with the Vikings, that cost would soar upward to $600 million.

In addition, there would be the costs of new roads to be built and of parking development. These estimated costs were not included. The article also mentioned future repairs and enhancements might result in increases in student tuition and decreases in research funding.

Nobody has asked the students, staff or public what we want. Apparently, this new approach to a Vikings stadium is attempting to avoid a more public debate.

Let us contact our elected representatives and the University regents and demand a community-wide hearing on the above issues. Because a decision will be made in a few weeks (or days), we need to act immediately.
