The city of Minneapolis started its annual comprehensive spring sweeping program Tuesday.
With spring sweeping comes car towing, so city officials urge motorists not to park their vehicles on streets marked with street sweeping signs, which are posted at least 24 hours in advance.
The program will continue for the next five weeks as crews sweep approximately 100 miles of streets each day, said Mike Kennedy, director of field services for the Minneapolis Public Works Department.
Kennedy said the city tows approximately 5,000 cars each spring.
Owners can pick up their vehicles at the municipal impound lot at 51 Colfax Ave. N. or call (612) 673-5777, in case of a tow.
