The Gophers women’s rowing team was eager to prove its merit this weekend against No. 18 Louisville.
It’ll have to wait another week to do so.
A set of heavy winds and 18-inch whitecaps on Lake Macbride in Solon, Iowa, led to the cancelation of Saturday’s meet against Louisville, No. 15 Wisconsin and unranked Iowa.
Minnesota will face Louisville next weekend as part of the 19-team Clemson Invitational.
With eight top-20 teams competing at the event, including 2012 NCAA champion Virginia, a successful showing should move the Gophers back into the national rankings.
Minnesota was ranked 20th in the April 3 Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association poll but dropped out of the poll last week.
The Gophers have two meets remaining before the Big Ten championships next month.
