niversity football player Brandon Hall was fatally shot in downtown Minneapolis early Sunday morning, according to coach Glen Mason, who made the announcement at an 11:30 a.m. news conference.
“Our prayers go out to Brandon and his family,” Mason said. “My and our immediate concern is with supporting Brandon’s family, his teammates and his many friends.”
Meanwhile, The Associated Press reported police arrested three men following a shooting in downtown Minneapolis at 2 a.m. this morning.
While the police have not identified the victim, Mason said it was Hall.
“I am not priviledged to all the information and I have been informed not to comment on anything specific at all because of the ongoing investigation,” Mason said. “I will respect this request and not interfere with the proper authorities from doing their job.”
“But, I want to state, emphatically, that to my knowledge Brandon Hall was an innocent victim.”
The Minneapolis Police Department is investigating the shooting.
Hall, a redshirt freshman defensive tackle, played in his first collegiate game Saturday and recorded one tackle.
