We're about half an hour away from kickoff here at TCF Bank Stadium. The Gophers (3-0) host San Jose State (1-1) this morning in the first meeting between these two programs since 1992.
Here's what you need to know:
Head coach Jerry Kill had his fourth game-day seizure last week during the team's 29-12 win over Western Illinois. Athletics director Norwood Teague said Monday that he's fully confident in Kill.
"Jerry is our coach, and we are 100 percent behind him," Teague said.
At his weekly press conference Tuesday, Kill did not take questions about his health. He did, however, address the team's quarterback situation and its opponent this week, San Jose State.
Sophomore Philip Nelson sustained a hamstring injury during the second quarter last week. His backup, freshman Mitch Leidner was 7-8 passing and should start today.
The Spartans went 11-2 last season and are led by senior quarterback David Fales. Many pundits are projecting Fales as a early-round NFL draft pick.
