Minnesota fans will be able to attend the originally scheduled football home game against Penn State Saturday at the Metrodome.
The University previously announced that the Oct. 7 game could have been postponed because of a conflict with the Minnesota Twins playoff games.
Because the Twins won the Central Division on Sunday, the team starts its playoff series against Oakland on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Metrodome and will play Oakland in an away game Saturday.
Kyle Coughlin, senior associate director of University Athletics Communications, said it’s a relief the Gophers are playing the game on the scheduled date.
In the past, Gophers games have been rescheduled because of conflicts in sporting events because the Metrodome houses multiple teams.
Coughlin said these types of issues will no longer exist after the new stadium is built in 2009 “because it’s our stadium and we’re the top priority.”
