Greek yogurt is regular yogurt’s more tart and thick cousin. Because of its distinct flavor profile and creamy consistency, it’s a great substitute for various ingredients in the kitchen.
You can use Greek yogurt instead of mayonnaise or sour cream in recipes. You can even swap Greek yogurt for heavy cream in soups and sauces.
Besides being a worthy substitute in the kitchen, it’s also packed with probiotics — friendly bacteria that are good for the gut. Greek yogurt offers a fair dosage of protein, too.
Eating yogurt daily can help regulate your digestive system, so if you’re not a yogurt and granola person, try these recipes.
Pancakes
Eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
Pinch of salt
2 tablespoons oil
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 cup Greek yogurt
3/4 cup milk
1. Combine all the dry ingredients in one bowl and the wet ingredients in another.
2. Once all the wet ingredients are combined, add them to the dry ingredients.
3. Because it is pancake batter, be sure not to over mix. Lumps are natural.
4. Put a skillet on medium heat, grease the pan and pour in 1/4 cup or a ladleful of batter.
5. Cook for about two minutes or until the edges dry and the pancake starts to bubble.
6. Flip and cook for another minute.
7. Top it off with some fruit, maple syrup, butter or other ingredients.
Choco chip cookies
You can never have too many chocolate chip cookie recipes.
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
Pinch of salt
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
3/4 cup Greek yogurt
2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups chocolate chips
1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Combine the flour, granulated sugar, baking soda and salt.
2. Beat the eggs and the brown sugar together. Then add the Greek yogurt and vanilla extract.
3. Add the wet mixture to the dry one.
4. Stir together until thoroughly combined. Then add chocolate chips.
5. Bake for about 10 minutes, and cool on pan.
