The man suspected of driving away after fatally hitting a Minneapolis biker with his car turned himself in to the police on Monday.
Jessica Hanson, 24, was hit while biking to her boyfriend’s house on Wednesday night, the Star Tribune reported. She died in the hospital two days later.
Minneapolis police used witnesses’ information to find the suspect’s vehicle on Friday, according to a news release. The man turned himself in Monday morning and is being held for criminal vehicular operation.
Hanson, who worked at the Republic bar in Uptown, is the second bicyclist killed in a hit-and-run this year, the Star Tribune reported. The driver in the first case was sentenced on Monday to 90 days in jail for a DWI charge.
Minneapolis police Deputy Chief Kris Arneson said community help was “pivotal” in solving the Hanson case, Minnesota Public Radio reported.
"We got a lot of very good, timely information that we were able to act on immediately.”
