Sophomore forward Hannah Brandt and junior defenseman Rachel Ramsey were named American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) All-Americans on Thursday. Sophomore defenseman Milica McMillen was named a second-team All-American.
Brandt, the WCHA Player of the Year, leads the nation with 63 points. She is also a top-three finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award, which is given annually to the top player in NCAA Division I women's college hockey. The finalist will be announced on Saturday.
Ramsey, the WCHA Defensive Player of the Year, is second in the country among defensemen with 43 points. Both her and McMillen were named to the WCHA First Team earlier this month.
In addition, head coach Brad Frost was named the AMCA Coach of the Year for the second year in a row. Frost has led the Gophers to a 37-1-1 record this season. Last year, Frost led the Gophers to a 41-0-0 record and a national championship title.
Frost and the Gophers will go for their third-straight national championship this weekend in Hamden, Conn. They will take on Wisconsin in the first game of the Frozen Four on Friday. Minnesota has defeated Wisconsin four times this season.
