Monday is "National Buy a Newspaper Day!"
Almost 20,000 people have joined the Facebook event encouraging its participants to purchase a good old-fashioned newspaper on Monday.
Its creator, Chris Freiberg, is a journalist for the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner. His message is simple- Buy a newspaper. You’ll like it.
That’s right. A newspaper. An actual, physical newspaper that you can hold in your hands.
"It doesn’t matter if it’s a daily or weekly, right-leaning or left-leaning," Freiberg writes on the event’s page. "If you’re a college student and you get the school paper for free, buy the town paper. If you subscribe, why not pick up a second copy? Who knows? You might like what you see and come back another day, and another, and another…."
So why not take his advice? Buy the Star Tribune today. Buy the Pioneer Press, buy the New York Times– buy all three! And while you’re at it, why not pick the Daily, too?
