The Minnesota Nurses Association, which represents about 20,000 nurses across the state, announced Tuesday that they are withdrawing from the American Nurses Association. The MNA made the decision through a House of Delegates vote Monday. They will remain a part of the United American Nurses and national and Minnesota chapters of the AFL-CIO. âĂ„ĂşMNA respects the right and autonomy of ANA to guide their organization as they see fit,âĂ„Ăą MNA President Linda Slattengren said in a news release. âĂ„ĂşIt is increasingly apparent however, that MNA and ANA share different visions of how best to represent the interests of our member nurses.âĂ„Ăą The MNA, which is the second-largest constituent member of ANA, becomes the seventh state nurses organization to withdraw from ANA. California, Maine, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Michigan all left previously.
