The Minnesota Public Interest Research Group and Minnesota Student Association postponed MPIRG board elections scheduled for today until the second week of winter quarter.
The two groups decided last week to delay the elections, but miscommunication and the Thanksgiving holiday caused publicity promoting the elections to continue through this week.
MPIRG planned the elections to choose members for its local board because MSA invalidated elections held last spring. A large percentage of voters in that election had not paid the $2.50 membership fee and were ineligible to vote.
Carron Perry, MPIRG’s campus organizer, said the organization wanted to delay the elections until it could properly publicize the event. The date of the elections will be determined at Thursday’s meeting.
