The Hoosiers' Cody Zeller should buy Trevor Mbakwe a drink — if he were old enough to.
The Gophers' 24-year-old was named Big Ten Player of the Week after dominating performances against No. 1 Indiana and Penn State. The honor is Mbakwe's first this season, second of his career.
Mbakwe combined to score 34 points and 25 rebounds in the two wins, including an 80-percent shooting night against Zeller's Hoosiers. Mbakwe's relentless defense also forced the preseason player of the year, Zeller, into a terrible shooting night. Zeller finished with nine points and seven rebounds, compared to his 16.5 ppg and 8.1 rpg averages.
