A University of Minnesota student was killed last week in a motorcycle accident, authorities announced Tuesday.
Patrick Buxbaum, 30, was on his motorcycle at the intersection of 27th Street and Emerson Avenue when he rode into the rear driver-side of a limousine headed south on Emerson, according to Minneapolis police Sgt. William Palmer.
The accident occurred shortly after 3 a.m. on May 19, just blocks away from his Minneapolis home, according to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office, which released the University junior’s identity Tuesday.
Authorities have yet to reveal the circumstances leading up to the crash but said Buxbaum was found dead at the scene of the crash.
Buxbaum was not wearing a helmet, Palmer said.
Buxbaum, who was originally from Sidney, Mont., was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and had served overseas in Japan.
After four years in the military, Buxbaum moved to Minneapolis to attend Minneapolis Community and Technical College, later transferring to the University.
Minneapolis police and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner are continuing their investigations.
