As the NFL draft nears its opening round, an announcement came declaring two Gophers’ players have already been added to a professional training camp roster. However, the signings have nothing to do with football. Minnesota women’s basketball seniors Brittany McCoy and Ashley Ellis-Milan have each signed training camp contracts with the Minnesota Lynx. The former Gopher captains finish out the Lynx’s 16-player training camp roster. McCoy averaged 7.0 points, 5.1 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 2.07 steals per game last season. Her assists average was second in the Big Ten and her steals were third. Ellis-Milan, a fifth-year senior, averaged 9.4 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in 2009-10.
